REED Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be working closely with an industry client based in Belfast who have an exciting new opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team.This opportunity has come about due to growth and will support the Financial Controller with the day-to-day running of the Accounts department.The RoleAssist in managing the day-to-day and monthly control of all accounting systems to ensure the complete and accurate processing of financial data in accordance with company proceduresManage sales ledgers by credit checking, referencing and reviewing new accounts, reviewing existing accounts, credit control management and maintaining all necessary records and ensure that relevant financial information is passed to staffManage purchase ledgers to ensure that the company meets its suppliers obligations as they fall due, both domestic and foreignProducing and analyzing necessary statements and reports to enable the accurate measurement of cash flow, debtors etc within strict deadlinesAssist with maintaining the nominal ledgers and postingsAssist with month end procedures and journals for all ledgersPrepare statistical returns and financial analysis on a range of topics in a timely manner for internal and external use including but not limited to:Account reconciliationsbank / debtors / creditors / VAT and DutyCalculation of accruals and prepaymentsMaintenance of intercompany accountsPreparation of online banking payment authorisations domestic and foreign account transfers and external paymentsAssist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements for the GroupAssist in maintaining a close working relationship with the external auditors to ensure compliance and cooperation with their requirements and to provide an effective audit trailThe PersonApplicants will have an AAT Qualification or part professional qualification as well as 3+ years experience working in a finance department.Applicants will have an advanced working knowledge of MS Excel and the ability to learn new software with ease.Applicants will have a strong analytical mind with the ability to use initiative and solve problems.This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Technician or Part Qualified Accountant to take the next step in their career and learn from an experienced and qualified Financial Controller.Please get in touch with Lizzy Lyons on and email an up to date cv to
