Within the department our Vetting Team have a fantastic opportunity to join them as a Senior Vetting Researcher. Youd be joining us at a busy time hereat Northumbria Police, where we are increasing our Police Staff and Officer numbers as well as consistently ensuring our current employees are operating with the utmost integrity and professionalism.In this role you would be coordinating your team to carry out vetting for all new colleagues joining the Force, contractors, volunteers, partnership workers and current employees. This is an important role where youll be assisting with workload prioritisationand providing advice on vetting application decisions. A large part of the role will be assessing threat and risk to the organisation so your advice will need to be carefully researched and considered. Youll also need to be a supportive leader, ensuring yourteam are providing a quality service to colleagues and stakeholders, whilst ensuring you manage their development and wellbeing.What will I be doing in the roleUsing local and national systems to conduct relevant research and vetting checksMaking low risk vetting decisions and providing recommendations based on evidence providedCommunicating with applicants, stakeholders, and vacancy holders - youll need to manage the expectations of various people therefore resilience is keyQuality assurance on vetting requests to ensure compliance and consistency across the teamUsing a variety of computer systems to obtain information and make informed decisionsSupervising staff in their day to day duties - including performance management, appraisals, recruitment and developmentLiaising with other forces and national agencies on individual vetting casesCarrying our full range of checks to ensure relevant information is obtained and information is retained for audit purposesIdentify vulnerabilities and risks associated with candidates and colleagues, conducting further research where required.What essential skills do I needThis is a fast-paced role where youll need to be confident in your own decisions and able to communicate them to colleagues of all levels.
