An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a world leading organisation, our global FMCG client, the powerhouse behind brands such as Tresemme, Sunsilk, Dove, and TIGI, have an opening for an experienced Hair Product Evaluation Scientist, to bebased at their prestigious Research & Development Facility in Port Sunlight, Wirral. This is a full-time position, a temporary role for 6 months and to start ASAP, paying £25,919 per annum, pro rata.The Hair Care industry is a highly dynamic and competitive market. It is exciting, constantly changing and sees frequent innovations and new products coming to market.Our client is a major player in the hair care industry worldwide through a number of leading brands, including Tresemme, Sunsilk, Dove, Clear and TIGI that rely on unbeatable functional performance. Based on this the Category is growing above market average.The Hair GDC based in Port Sunlight is responsible for the development of the next generation of hair products and is the custodian of quality in product design and outstanding delivery in-line with consumer expectations.In this role, you will deliver product performance measures and generate new hair care technology insights using a wide range of instrumental and scientific methods supporting the generation new and stronger product claims. An example measure would quantifyhow shiny hair becomes after use of Sunsilks new shampoo and conditioner.Key Responsibilities:

• Develops and implements appraisal/evaluation plans within innovation projects (technical, clinical or consumer testing) to generate claims support data for new products.
• Define and implement appraisal laboratory studies to high professional standards and ensure delivery to required timelines and with the use of best practice methods.
• Support the development and implementation of new/novel experimental methods to drive new insights and the generation of consumer/market-relevant game-changing claims.
• Build new measures and tools for product performance and the generation of scientific insights predictive of the consumers perception of benefit or provide novel claims support.
• Translate claims into physical demonstrations (demos) that are consumer relevant and drive innovation understanding with consumers.
• Analyze the product competitive environment to identify means to differentiate from competition.

Key Skills:

• Demonstrate strong experimental design ability and a familiarity with analysis programmes and tools and statistical interpretation of data.
• Ability to interpret complex data from multiple sources and provide concise, clear insights / conclusions for communication to a variety of audiences.

• In-depth knowledge of at least one area of physical science (the role has direct interface with technical development teams).

Qualifications/Experience

• BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in Physical Sciences (including Physics, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry or Biochemistry).
• Excellent laboratory, communication and presentation skills are essential.
