Job Description

A key role within Research and Development Team for the testing, handling and organisation of product samples created both in the Pilot Plant and Factory.The role will support the running of the Analytical Lab in regard to workload planning and ensuring adequate hygiene and equipment supplies, as well as supporting others to use the facility efficiently and train others where necessary and appropriate.Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform various texture analyses and other analytical tests to produce reliable and precise data to support research and works, investigations and trials.
  • Retrieve and prepare samples from storage locations prior to testing.
  • Operate laboratory equipment such as TA machines, AW meters, moisture metre, oven, stomacher blender, etc.
  • Undertake specific training when necessary to operate new pieces of analysis equipment.
  • Ensure that the PP/kitchen is well stocked with essential hygiene and consumable items.
  • Record test results electronically as stipulated by R&D.
  • Provide support when necessary for the preparation and running of trials.
  • Ensure samples and properly labelled to prevent retrieving erroneous samples; keep and store them for future tests and evaluations.
  • Monitor sample storage including shelf life to support R&D in identifying out of date stock.
  • Plan and organise everyday workload in order to complete several assigned tasks in a reasonable timescale.
