Production Test Development Engineer

Purpose of the Job:

Take individual responsibility in maintaining existing production processes to the established level of safety, quality , cost and delivery. Resolving immediate causes as they occur and eliminating root causes effectively.
Work in project teams to design and implement production processes for new projects. Interpreting product specifications and engineering requirements. Working to a projects plan, budget and deadlines.
Work with production teams to continually improve existing processes by challenging existing paradigms and implementing best known practices.
Provide fast support to Production test when any issues arise.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:

Specify the design criteria for new test equipment ( including hardware, software and method of calibration). To locate best source for design and manufacture of test equipment. To define the acceptance criteria of completed equipment and to project managethe supply of test equipment, including implementation into production.
Support overseas sites who use equipment and processes designed in Bath site. Including design authority over specified product tests.
Create, fault find and debug Production test programs using National Instruments LabVIEW software package and ensure a smooth, effective and timely release into Production.
Ability to understand in detail the hardware interface that sits between the Production test program and the Production test equipment.
Understand relevant legislation and certification requirements when designing processes and test solutions.
Take responsibility for test records being stored in Rotorks secure information systems and ensure available for reference & analysis of test results.
Work safely with electrical test equipment often 3-phase electrical equipment
Ensure that Health & Safety risks are taken into account, documented and minimised during product testing and calibration.
Understand Rotorks MRP system
Manage traceability, roll out and roll back of software changes
Coach others in above skills of a Production Test Development Engineer

Experience : Essential

Desirable:

Experience of or ability / keenness to learn Solid Edge or similar CAD software package
Experience of an ERP / MRP system
Good awareness of Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement techniques
