Job Description

Mortgage Operations Team Leaderpermanent, full timehybrid workingThis is a great opportunity to join Bath Building Societys Mortgage Department and help us on our transformation journey building a platform for sustainable growth.The role is based at the Societys Head Office in the centre of Bath, but the successful candidate will have the flexibility to manage their own working pattern between home and office working subject to any core business requirements to be agreed with theMortgage Operations Manager.The roleReporting directly to the Mortgage Operations Manager, the Mortgage Operations Team Leader role purpose is to provide efficient and effective administrative support as part of the mortgage operations team. A multi-tasker with a confident approach and strongorganisational skills. This role will be the subject matter expert in all areas pertaining to the department whilst additionally providing support in all matters to the Mortgage Operations Manager.You will

  • Take responsibility for the processing of mortgage applications including:
    • Basic administration
    • Application to offer
    • Offer to completion
    • Post completion in-life management
    • Making changes to these processes as required
  • Responsible for ensuring that all processes are documented, and procedure manuals are up to date
  • Active role in training other members of the team
  • Performance and design of controls forming part of the Risk Management Framework, and approving those controls carried out by others
  • Other internal checks including transaction and call monitoring and file checks
  • Running and checking pre-defined reports such as the quarterly Product Sales Data and bi-annual Performance data to ensure the Societys reports to the FCA are accurate
  • Approving reports for submission, and analysis and interpretation of reports
  • Production of annual statements
  • Preparation and review and analysis of MI against relevant performance measures such as servicing levels
  • Responsible for ensuring the mortgage pipeline records are accurately maintained
  • Actively participate in the Societys transformation program, both contributing with ideas and helping to adopt and embed changes
  • Participate in working groups and implement change to deliver measurable efficiency savings and added value
  • Contribute to the testing of systems through definition and performance of test plans and reporting results, including involvement in business continuity testing
  • Cover for attendance at the Sopra Loans Working Party
  • Identification and resolution of system issues either independently or with the Support of IT
  • Carry out mortgage product building to enable to Society to launch new products and rates
  • Resolving customer account issues including dealing with complaints
  • Assist and support the Mortgage Operations Manager in all areas of manging the team including:
    • Objective setting
    • Performance appraisals
    • Managing absence and ensuring cover in place
    • Prioritising work
    • Delivering to pre-agreed departmental target
Ad hoc tasks and projects as requested by the Mortgage Operations Manager within the scope of the roleQualifications and Experience:
  • Full CeMAP Qualification. Or must work towards passing this within 12 months
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Accurate data keying and checking skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate by phone, letter & email
  • Good understanding of the Societies lending policy and values
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Activate, Summit, Microsoft Office, Laserfiche, WorldPay, BACS, & Hunter
