Neonatal Feeding Advisor - Band 6 An exciting opportunity has arisen to come and join our team in the RUH at the Dyson Centre for Neonatal Care. We are proud to have achieved Unicef Neonatal Baby Friendly Accreditation. The post holder will be instrumental in maintaining accreditation status. We have a purpose built unit, designed for the family’s needs and developmental care is the core focus for all of our babies.We serve a birth population of 5300 deliveries a year, designated as a level 2 local neonatal unit with 21 cots, 4 intensive, 3 high dependencies and 14 special care. We have an Outreach team and are actively involved in the South West Neonatal Network.The post holder is responsible for promoting the care and infant feeding support of all new parents on the neonatal unit, transitional care and the Childrens Ward, ensuring that breast feeding is actively promoted. The post holder will ensure that all new mothers will receive support and advice on the importance of breastfeeding, the benefits and impact it will have on the health and wellbeing for the mother and baby.We are looking for a motivated Junior Sister/Charge Nurse who is an enthusiastic practitioner with excellent assessment and communication skills who will be responsible for Infant feeding education ensuring that new nursing and medical staff receives mandatory training and annual updates. They will be proactive in maintaining the Unicef Neonatal Bay Friendly Standards, with clinical audit and promoting the Bliss standards. In return you will be supported by our skilled senior nursing and medical team.There is a fully supported orientation and induction programme, including a supernummary period with mentorship, and excellent development opportunities.
