Two exciting job opportunities have been created in Bath & North East Somerset Council to lead on the heritage led regeneration of two characterful High Streets in the market towns of Midsomer Norton and Keynsham. These are partnership roles co-funded by Historic England, the West of England Authority and Midsomer Norton and Keynsham Town Councils.Are you passionate and knowledgeable about historic places Do you have experience managing regeneration projects or grant schemes Do you have experience of public realm improvements or shopfront enhancements Are you keen to engage with a local community to help regenerate their High StreetTwo posts will manage the delivery of two projects call High Street Heritage Action Zones to improve and enhance the conservation areas in either Midsomer Norton or Keynsham over a four-year programme. The High Street Project Manager for each town will develop and manage the 4-year programme set out in the HSHAZ Delivery Plan, encouraging heritage-led regeneration and co-ordinating the delivery of a range of schemes, including shopfront and historic building improvements, public realm improvements, pop-up shops, markets, animation projects, urban greening and art interventions. The post will require someone with broad experience and confidence including experience of managing grant funded programmes and experience of working with multiple stakeholders.We are looking for an excellent communicator, with the ability to engage, inspire and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders including local residents, businesses and key decision makers in our partner organisations.The Midsomer Norton High Street HAZ Project Manager will be responsible for delivering £2m of investment in three project areas: (i) An improvement scheme outside the town hall to deliver a new market place and improvements to the Town Hall and adjacent shop fronts (ii) improved pedestrian links and (iii) a high street shopfront and signage improvement scheme. Funding is also allocated to pilot activities such as pop-up shops, outdoor markets and community business engagement.The Keynsham High Street HAZ Project Manager will be responsible for delivering £1.3m of investment focused on (i) public realm improvement and shopfront enhancements focused on the upper High Street and Station Road, areas which contain many historic buildings. An initial phase 1 phase of public realm improvement is currently being implemented in the High Street core which this project will develop further and enhance.The successful applicants will have strong project management background in either public realm, transport planning or town planning and will have a background in heritage, architecture, conservation planning or urban design. The posts for each town are complementary and there will be significant collaboration required between the post holders for each town, and with the wider High Street Renewal team.The Council offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.
