Job Description

  • Chance to head-up Cyber Security within Higher Education.
  • Work closely with other tech leaders at a picturesque location in Bath.

Leaders in higher education are looking for someone with experience across a few key areas; Information & Cyber Security Strategy, Information & Cyber Security Management, Liaison & Networking, Leadership & Management. If this is you, wed love to hear fromyou! What skills youll need
  • An appropriate degree, equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Any of the following qualifications;Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Senior or Lead level certification in the NCSCs Certified Cyber Professional Scheme, PRINCE2
  • Substantial senior management experience in IT, desirably within Higher Education,encompassing service delivery, information security and IT infrastructure.
  • A track record in the management and delivery of transformational organisation-widesecurity improvements.
  • Proven experience of engaging, influencing and managing stakeholders across departmentaland organisational boundaries.
  • Thorough understanding of ITsystems and a broad, contemporary understanding of information security frameworks, relevantlegislation, vulnerability management, incident management and response, secure developmentrequirements, cyber security operations and management and governance of cyber risk and security.
  • Commitment toacquiring and maintaining cyber security accreditations such as Cyber Essentials Plus and/or
  • A collaborative leader with the ability to articulate strategy in a collegiate way to informtransparent, viable, pragmatic and sustainable processes that find the optimum balancebetween business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • The ability to work within a regulatory framework and articulate its potential as a tool forcontinuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complexor highly technical issues to a wide variety of audiences.
  • An excellent understanding of best practice in Information Security and risk managementincluding standards such as ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials.
  • An excellent understanding of regulations and legislation that impact Information Securitysuch as the General Data Protection Regulations, Freedom of Information Act, PCIDSS.
  • An understanding of current and emerging threats, countermeasures and the organisationalchallenges to addressing these threats, preferably in the Higher Education environment.
  • A good practical knowledge of security technologies and wider business solutions includingIDS/IDP, MFA, IDAM, SIEM/XDR/SOAR, cloud technologies and remote working.
What youll be doingYoull define, develop and maintain a business-aligned Cyber Security Strategy, consult with the relevant stakeholders and define and embed an Information Security Policy framework across their digital estate. Drive and deliver change to their Cyber Securitysystems,processes and procedures by continuously reviewing and analysing new security technologies and practices as informed by industry best practice. Youll be regularly liaising with their IT Services senior team, Information Compliance Manager and IT Service Managersas well as develop and lead a small Information Security team and build a close affiliation with associated managed service providers to ensure continuous improvement.What youll get in returnA salary of up to £70K plus a 19% pension! 33 days holiday, not including bank holidays!
