Job Description

Its a really exciting time to join us as Sovereign have joined forces with Network Homes to form SNG (Sovereign Network Group). Together we provide over 84,000 homes and invest in communities across London and the South of England – our purpose being toprovide quality affordable homes and places that people love for generations.We have a great opportunity for aService Charge Officerto join our team on a fixed term basis until October 2024 to calculate and produce complete and accurateservice charge information to our customers, whilst delivering excellent customer service. Youll be based from our office in Basingstoke with the flexibilityto combine home working to ensure a positive work life balance.The RoleService charges cover the costs of maintaining communal areas for properties and can be quite varied depending on the property and type of services provided. This role provides a great opportunity to collaborate with almost all other teams across the organisation,and really get to understand the business and increase your network.Youll be the first point of contact for service charge queries from customers, using your problem solving and analytical skills to understand and resolve complex queries, whilst ensuring a positive customer experience.Working collaboratively across the team, your role will include:

  • Calculating and preparing estimated service charge budgets for properties in your designated area, and issuing accurate statements to customers
  • Annual reconciliation of service charge accounts against estimates, calculating and applying balancing adjustments accurately, and informing customers
  • Collating and analysing a variety of data, checking for accuracy and completeness and exploring any anomalies
  • Providing a great customer-focused service, being the first point of contact for customers, providing understanding and resolutions to complex queries and disputes, either over the phone or in writing
What we need from youIdeally, youll have previous understanding or experience working within service charges or a similar role within housing (including leasehold and property management), however this isnt essential as training and support will be provided. Youll also needto:
  • Be customer focused and enjoy interacting with customers to understand and resolve queries
  • Demonstrate thorough analytical skills with strong experience in Excel
  • Have high attention to detail to ensure data is accurate and reliable, with good numeracy skills
  • Be a collaborative team member, but also able to work independently and under pressure to achieve team and individual goals
  • Plan and prioritise your workload to balance deadlines and competing demands from stakeholders
  • Be an effective, confident and solution-focused communicator
  • Work proactively with others to resolve complex queries quickly and clearly
