Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, highly motivated and passionate individual to become part of the senior ICU team. In addition to these attributes we expect the individual to support the vision of our Trust to deliver safe care compassionately and be a team player.The post holder will be required to lead and develop a team of staff, promoting the development of advanced nursing and teaching skills within the unit, ensuring the team is dedicated to delivering excellent surgical care, throughout the patient’s journey. The post holder needs to be visionary and dynamic in driving the team forward in a rapid changing environment. The post holder will also be required to liaise closely with other District General Hospitals across Essex. In conjunction with the Unit Manager carry 24 hour overall responsibility for the clinical area (including cardiothoracic recovery) and participate in the management of the hospital in accordance with the Trust’s Duty Coordinator policy.Act as an effective leader both professionally and managerially for all members of nursing staff.Be responsible for and manage the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of care, in conjunction with the unit’s aims, objectives and philosophy.Maintaining and developing high standards of care, whilst planning and implementing unit based and directorate teaching programmes, assessing the training needs of nursing staff in conjunction with the Practice Development TeamFor further details / informal visits contact:Gill Adams Matron of the Critical Care Unit CTCbleep 6039, ex 4293
