Job Description

Material Controller/ Basildon / £25 per hourTemporary ContractAre you a proactive Material Controller with a passion for ensuring seamless material flow in a manufacturing environment Our Client, a leading Aerospace and Defence Organisation are seeking a motivated Material Controller to join their teamin BasildonAs a Material Controller you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the supply of manufactured and purchased items to support our Master Production Schedule (MPS). You will ensure that all materials in the supply chain meet the requiredbuild standards and are available to meet our manufacturing plans time-driven requirements. This role involves close collaboration with various departments, including Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Procurement, and Quality Assurance, to ensure smooth operationsand on-time delivery.Key Responsibilities:

  • Master Production Schedule (MPS): Control the supply of materials to align with the MPS, making certain that all materials meet the necessary standards and are available as per the manufacturing plans requirements.
  • SAP Material Management: Maintain material status within SAP, expediting internal manufacturing processes and external supply items to ensure compliance with the production plan. Monitor SAP outputs and report any non-compliance issues.
  • Collaboration: Interface with Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Procurement, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate progress in work-in-progress (WIP) and the delivery of materials as per the schedule.
  • Supplier Coordination: Coordinate with suppliers to schedule deliveries, resolving any scheduling issues that may impact the completion of materials according to the plan.
  • Work Order Management: Review, release, and manage internal work orders in line with the production plan.
  • Return Logistics: Manage the logistics of returning materials to suppliers (RTV) and implement actions related to Failure Review Boards (FRB) and Material Review Boards (MRB).
  • Kit Delivery: Ensure the delivery of kits to and from the production line as needed.
  • Purchase Orders: Call off materials from suppliers as per the plan, converting to purchase orders (POs) against procurement-enabled Production Information Records (PIRs) or SAP contracts.
  • Proactive Communication: Advise internal stakeholders of potential delays that could impact the achievement of the MPS, proposing reprioritization of work within the plan and solving problems as they arise.
  • Supplier Schedule Management: Control supplier schedules and expediting priorities, considering their impact on other projects involving the same supplier. Escalate issues through the Procurement department if there are contractual implications.
  • Shipping: Initiate the shipping process for finished products.
  • Production Order Management: Administer and reschedule production orders as necessary.
  • Integrated Project Team (IPT): Act as a key member of the Integrated Project Team, collaborating closely with Manufacturing Management, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Planning, and Logistics.
Ideal Person
  • Experience in material planning and control environments.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, and testing environments.
  • Proficiency in email, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Proven technical experience, either through qualifications or recognised training and experience in a production control environment.
  • Experience with SAP material control is preferable.
