Job Description

As Production Manager, you will be joining a brand-new production facility for a global company in Barry, on a full time, permanent basis. There is further planned investment and expansion for manufacturing capabilities too. This role will oversee all productionstaff on site and identify/implement process improvements within the production areas. Thereby supporting all business units to achieve the targets and objectives defined. Also, involvement with input and implementation on the future direction of manufacturingon site.As Production Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Key members of the production leadership team
  • First line supervision of production staff
  • Deployment of staff and allocation of work to maximise efficiency and customer satisfaction through on-time release of product
  • Ensuring compliance to environment, health and safety procedures within the department and drive improvements in these areas
  • Identifying opportunities and leading continuous improvement programs focused on business and customer improvements
  • Implementing of all new and existing operational policies and procedures
  • Providing timely management reports as required
  • Interacting with all other departments as necessary to ensure customer expectations are exceeded
  • Developing and implement training plans in order to deliver maximum efficiency
  • Deputising for the Operations Manager when required, along with current supervisory network
  • Ensuring accurate stock control & reporting in line with business needs
  • Leadership with project work, to include future development of production processes
Key Challenges
  • Ensuring all quality, productivity, budget targets and KPIs are exceeded
  • Controlling production staff planning levels
  • Dealing directly with Human Resources on personnel issues
  • Implementing standard operating procedure (SOP) for production
  • Creating a lean culture for continuous improvement
As Production Manager, you must be/have:
  • Previous supervisory experience within a production environment essential
  • Environment, Health, and Safety qualification preferred
  • ERP (Sage) management knowledge preferred
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Excellent organisational & planning skills
  • Experience in managing and motivating a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a confident communicator at all levels
  • A positive "can do" attitude and enthusiasm to succeed
  • Flexibility regarding working hours
  • Ability to write reports and analyse data
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Physical demands
  • Standing and walking for long periods
  • Computer/VDU use
Scope
  • Production processes include digital and pad printing, CNC cutting operation/ lamination, operating 5 days per week, between 9:00am - 5:00pm
  • Overtime working after 5:00pm at weekends as necessary
Whats in it for meThe salary is £35,000 - £38,000 depending on experience, plus 21 days holiday rising with service, free parking, pension, annual salary review and much more!
