Buyer / PlannerLocation- BarnstapleHours Monday - Thursday 8am-4.30pm and Fridays 8am-3.30pmHourly rate based on £31000-£34000 per annumJob Duties:* Based in Barnstaple the role of the Buyer/Planner is to ensure Purchase orders are in place for finished goods, components and raw materials, to be received in time or suitably stocked so that works orders and sales orders are fulfilled to customer requirements.* Support all sourcing activities including the timely placing of Purchase orders using ERP/MRP planning methods.* Manage inventory and safety stock levels, with a view to maximising service performance with most effective use of capital.* Drive and support continuous improvement improving service, and cost across the instrumentation group.* Ensure all purchase orders raised reflect demand and forecasted requirements against agreed stock levels and order quantities using Lean Plan for every part (PFEP) techniques.* Confirm purchase order and maintaining Vendor promise dates in the Electronic system so that Sales order dates maintained to latest promise.* Daily external supplier relationship in addition to, and including, internal sales, customer service, operations and supply chain department interactions.* Review customer order book and expedite supplier purchase orders to ensure Sales order shipped on time. In this business know as Line Item Shipped Complete (LISC)* Track suppliers delivery performance and communicate late deliveries based on business risk and impact to customer shipments. * Review supplier order acknowledgements for accuracy and action as necessary.* Monitor outstanding deliveries against delivery date.* Expedite with suppliers when required and communicate all potential issues to internal customers/stakeholders.* Resolve supplier invoicing queries, including unit cost, quantity received, freight charges and part number.* Support planning/purchasing activities of other departments as necessary, generally during holiday/absence coverage.* Creation and reintroduction of new and approved suppliers (critical/non- critical).* Key stakeholder management with Engineering, Production, intercompany sales and operations functions.* Strong support and reliable interaction at all times.Requirements:* Good organisation skills to support structured working * A good skill set to evaluate data using Excel and pivot charts is useful to identify key areas to work on to assist improvements of supplier performance.* Good negotiation skills to support gaining the best dates from vendors during expediting.* Problem solving capabilities and experience.Please contact for more informationAcorn Recruitment acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment.
