Following the recent Future Council Review, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tree Inspection Officer to complement the council’s Tree Team in delivering an effective and efficient Arboricultural service offer for Neighbourhood Services. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis and in return will receive a competitive salary of £24,982 - £27,741 + 10% Recruitment Allowance.The Tree Inspection Officer role:You will report to the Assistant Service Manager (Specialisms and Arbor) and will carry-out a full range of Arboricultural inspections, condition surveys and assessments of trees administered by our key stakeholders, ensuring the Councils legal obligations with regards to trees are met.The creation and maintenance of an up-to-date database of Council owned trees will be an integral part of the role, so the use of modern surveying techniques and of data-capture technology will be an essential part of the role. You will also be required to travel to all parts of the borough in all weathers.Key responsibilities of our Tree Inspection Officer:- To keep abreast of local and national tree related issues and lead on the continuing development, maintenance and updating of the asset management plan and associated systems in relation to the Council’s tree stock.- To be responsible for ensuring the Council’s statutory duties are fulfilled and that performance against key indicator is effectively managed.- To work seamlessly as part of a specialised team within agreed procedures to deliver a service to a professional standard.- Deal with unexpected problems or situations as they arise, proactively reporting any identified tree issues, risks and faults.- To be responsible for ensuring the scheduled safety and service inspections are programmed and undertaken in line with the Tree Risk Management Framework and relevant legislation.- To carry out detailed on-site surveys and inspections which may include the need to use climbing equipment where considered necessary to determine the level of risk.- To provide professional Arboricultural advice and guidance where required to both internal and external clients, partnerships and individuals.- To be responsible for investigations and preparing reports on a wide range of Arboricultural issues applying specialist technical knowledge as required.- To work under the guidance of the line manager and by application of personal initiative, ensure the service delivery is to a professional standard.- To use ICT solutions to support the delivery of existing and developing services.Qualifications and Experience we’re looking for in our Tree Inspection Officer:- Professional Tree Inspection qualification or *equivalent extensive experience working in the Arboricultural environment.- Willingness to undertake and obtain the Professional Tree Survey and Inspections within three months of employment.- Valid UK Driving Licence which allows driving of vehicles up to Cat B or B+E.- Extensive experience working in the Arboricultural surveying and inspection environment.- Experience of working as an individual or as part of a team.- Experience of working to and meeting strict deadlines.- Experience of dealing with conflicting demands and dealing with a range of audiences.- Experience of working in the grounds maintenance environment and carrying out respective duties.- In-depth knowledge of legislation and governance affecting the provision of arboriculture management and maintenance of trees within an urban or rural setting.- An understanding of electronic data collection and processing Geographic Information system.Skills we’re looking for in our Tree Inspection Officer:- Ability to handle and process manual and computerised information, ensuring accuracy of processing and safeguarding of confidential information.- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal formats with members of the public, other employees and external organisations.- Ability to manage a challenging workload under pressure and to deadlines, using own initiative and demonstrating skills in work prioritisation, organisation and time management.- To update and keep records via an electronic notepad, using information systems supplied.- To be able to demonstrate a positive commitment to work and having the ability to motivate/train other employees through exhibiting your commitment to working well and providing practical help to others when required.Closing date: Friday 20th NovemberIf you feel you have the necessary skills and abilities for our Tree Inspection Officer, we would very much welcome your application so please click ‘Apply’ today!
