Job Description

TEACHING ASSISTANT (SEMH)Location: BarnsleyStart date: ImmediateContract type: Long term, temporary.Job type: full/part timeSchedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pmSalary: £85 - £95 per day, depending on experienceLeader Education is currently recruiting for multiple Teaching Assistants for a specialist SEMH school in Barnsley.This school provides cross-phase education for children aged from 5 - 18, who have been identified as having Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours. Modelling and nurturing positive relationships and strong partnerships is a key principle at this school, which allows members of staff to encouragestudents to meet the objectives of their EHCPs.The job:

  • Provide support to students with SEMH needs in a small group or 1:1 setting
  • Understand and follow individual health and care plans
  • To take direction and assist the class teacher
  • Help and allow students develop their own voice
  • Ensure the best quality of education for each pupil
  • Provide a safe, stimulating, happy and friendly environment
  • Engage with the students throughout their learning whilst in the classroom
  • Create and maintain supportive and calming relationships with the students
  • Liaising with SENCO and the designated safeguarding lead to promote positive outcomes.
You:
  • Have experience of working with children/students with SEMH needs
  • Are knowledgeable, dedicated, and passionate
  • Are understanding and have empathy
  • Have a passion for teaching and learning
  • Ability to make learning enjoyable and fun
  • Ideally Team Teach trained but not essential - free training is available
  • Are motivated and enthusiastic
  • Have great communication skills
  • Have a fun but firm presence.
