Job Description

Role: Risk and Compliance SpecialistSalary: up to £35,000 per annum, depending on skills, knowledge, and experienceLocation: Tankersley, BarnsleyThe role:You will be a key member of the Risk and Compliance team reporting to and working closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) on day-to-day risk and compliance management. You will also work closely with other areas of the business, including the Chief Executive, external compliance consultants and be the risk and compliance subject matter expert’ on all projects.The role is an exciting new role for our client and the successful candidate will also be involved in helping the COO build the risk and compliance team.Our client offers excellent working conditions including free on-site parking and a great benefits package including discretionary bonuses, discretionary Christmas holidays, Westfield Health Cash Plan, Company Pension, Employee discounts via Westfield Rewards and the Benefits Scheme and free tea and coffee on site.The successful candidate:We are looking for someone with the right attitude, knowledge, and skills to help support our clients risk and compliance management.You will ideally be university-educated with a relevant degree and with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a risk and/or compliance role preferably at a regulated financial services firm, in particular within an insurance, building society or bank setting (please note applications with no degree held but with good experience are highly encouraged to apply). You will also have a genuine enthusiasm to work in risk and compliance.You will need to be a team player but also be able to work alone, you must be a confident communicator with people at all levels of the business. You will have a good knowledge of risk management, compliance, and the financial services regulators (FCA and PRA).Ideally you will have experience in:

  • Delivering regulatory changes and embedding them in the business’ processes and controls.
  • Delivering compliance reviews of already embedded processes and controls and ensuring that they meet the required regulation.
  • Although not essential you may be working towards or already holding a relevant financial, risk or compliance qualification. You will have great attention to detail and be able to keep calm under pressure, quick to learn new things and be willing to roll up your sleeves and help out with other elements outside of your job remit.Glu Recruit are an equal opportunities employer.
