Job Description

Elevation Accountancy and Finance are delighted to be working with a fantastic business in the Barnsley area as they look to recruit a Part-Time Payroller on a maternity leave cover. Responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility for the processing of all payroll related returns from Department Managers
  • Ensure all timesheets are validated within agreed time frame for compliance and payroll adjustments to ensure accurate reconciliation
  • Generate required and agreed staff payroll information for all employees
  • Reconcile all payments made to employees for each payroll, following agreed reporting and authorisation processes
  • Generate, collate and record appropriately all pay elements for the payroll period, reporting all values using agreed systems
  • Input New starter staff details
  • Administrate leavers and P45 in a timely manner as required, including all Annual Leave payments
  • Administrate attachment or earnings (AOE’s) and all other statutory deductions in a timely manner as required
  • Administrate all agreed Company and Employee pension obligations in line with legal and organisational timeframes, as required
  • Payment of employee benefits, including health schemes, pension contributions etc. ensuring accurate administration within Sage accordingly
  • Finalise payroll in SAGE 50 and submit e-banking export to Group Payroll Supervisor for payment
  • Investigate and conclude all payroll queries in a timely manner, ensuring appropriate notes and details recorded
  • Print off agreed Sage reports prior to starting next payroll cycle and create back-up file, ensuring security of data at all times
  • Summary reporting of all staff wages, salaries and expenses claims
  • Production and distribution of payroll information to staff, payslips, P45, P60 etc
  • Provide additional reporting and payroll information where required by management
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes to payroll legislation and Sage
  • Deliver a high degree of accuracy and a keen eye for detail and data validation
  • Regular review of systems and processes making recommendations for improvement where necessary
  • Ad hoc support and cover for other roles within the Finance Department
Person Specification:
  • PC literate with good to intermediate Excel skills.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • The ability to adhere to deadlines and deliver required information in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise, multi task and work to deadlines.
  • Team player.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
