Job Description

Part Time Health and Safety Advisor Working Hours: Part time - 18.5 hours per week (2 or 2.5 days)Membership: Position requires Chartered Membership of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMOSH)Salary: £40,221 - £43,421 (pro-rata)Barnsley Council are seeking a permanent, part time,Safety and Health Advisor to join their award-winning council. In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of everyone who lives, works, or visits Barnsley. This is anopportunity to be part of a team that values creativity, ambition, and a focus on people, contributing to the safety and well-being of our communities. Day to Day of the role:

  • Provide specialist support to a wide range of council services and external organisations.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation, guidance, and best practice across diverse services, including schools.
  • Offer advice and guidance, develop certificated management systems and arrangements, and deliver IOSH accredited training.
  • Act as an integral business partner to our services.
  • Be part of a wider team responsible for emergency planning and directly involved in the Council’s response to incidents and emergencies.
  • Participate in a standby duty rota for out-of-hours service needs, for which additional payment is made.
Required Experience:
  • Strong track record of achievement relevant to the post, including providing advice and guidance to managers and external agencies.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and plans.
  • Skilled in developing, producing, and presenting effective information and training.
  • Proficient in developing risk assessments and multi-service working.
