Job Description

* Hybrid and very flexible employer with Barnsley based offices* Automatic enrolment into the Local Government Pension Scheme* Generous annual leave c27 days -35 days plus bank holidaysYou are a passionate team leader that can be responsible for the day to day management of a team of 7 finance officers, monitoring their performance whist ensuring that the organisation meets its obligations and service standards in accordance with all relevantlegislation, codes of practice and professional guidance. You are a confident and caring leader who is committed to mentoring, challenging and developing your staff.What youll be doing:As a Finance Team Leader, you will be will be responsible for the day to day management of a team of Senior Finance, Finance, and Business Support Officers, monitoring team and individual performance. You will support the Financial Services Manager and the Head of Service in co-ordinating and producing the Medium Term Financial Strategy, annual budgets, financial statements and the annual report, as well as accounting for investments, other financial reporting,and ensuring the completion of statutory and other Government returns, and supporting annual benchmarking exercises.You will lead by example in line with the values and behaviours ofthe organisation and to coach, develop and mentor those individuals for whom they line manage, including allocation of work, day-to-day supervision and general welfare of staff.What youll need to offer:You will need to be educated to Level 4 qualification standard; or significant vocational experience showing development in a series of progressively more demanding relevant work roles.Detailed knowledge of the accountancy and financial frameworks within which LGPS and / or Local Government operate. Knowledge of principles, practices, policies and procedures relating to business planning and financial and organisational management.You will have proven written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners/professionals. You will be able to work on your own initiative, with solution focused problem solving skillsas well as ab ability to manage a range of projects through to completion. You will have good knowledge of computerised financial systems in terms of functionality and capability.
