Job Description

Social Worker - Children & Young People’s TeamSalary: Up to £44,464 dependent on experience plus a £3000 welcome paymentLocation: Barnsley, South YorkshireJob Type: Permanent, Full-time (37 hrs per week), Agile working arrangementsWe are seeking dedicated and passionate Social Workers to join our Children & Young People’s Team. This is an exciting time to become part of a double award-winning, high-performing council that is committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for our communities.If you are a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed professional with a minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience, we would love to hear from you. Day-to-day of the role:

  • Case holding responsibilities for Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Public Law Outline (PLO), and care proceedings.
  • Focus on achieving the best outcomes through evidence-based, outcome-driven practice.
  • Work in partnership with families and other agencies to drive plans and promote positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 21-22 cases, with a commitment to reducing this to 15-20 as per role designation.
  • Participate in a comprehensive one-week induction with the Practice Development Hub.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through a robust training programme.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience within CP/CIN.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, with a creative and team-player approach.
  • Confidence in working with children subject to CIN, CP, and in care proceedings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and agencies.
  • Knowledge of Access Dimensions & Salesforce is desirable.
