Job Description

Teacher Art & Design TechnologyThis is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and highly motivated Art & Design Technology teacher to join a well-established and successful DT team at a high-performing secondary school, in all areas of London. The role is a permanent appointment andwill commence January 2023.The school are looking for a colleague who is committed to strong outcomes for all students and who wishes to join them in engendering a love for STEM subjects within students both inside and outside of the classroom. They are hoping to find a colleaguewith a specialism in Product Design and/or Resistant Materials.The school have been in the fortunate position in recent years to have invested in additional Design Technology courses and have increased curriculum time in recognition of the importance of Design Technology career routes to the local economy. The subjectarea is popular and recruitment levels are high.About the Department:

  • The Design Technology department is highly successful with a positive atmosphere, and you will need to be a strong team player with the ability to inspire, challenge and motivate.
  • The department is well equipped with both traditional tools and machinery, and laser cutter and 3D printers. The school are looking for a candidate with experience of, and an enthusiasm for, teaching Design Technology (focusing on Wood, Metal and Plastic),but some flexibility is expected within the department.
  • At Key Stage 3 all students study Art & Design Technology, Food and Textiles.
  • GCSEs are offered in Design Technology (focusing on Wood, Metal and Plastic), Food Preparation and Nutrition, Art and Design Graphics and Textiles
  • A Levels are offered in Design Technology Product Design, Fashion & Textiles and Level 3 Food Science and Nutrition.
