REED Social Care are currently recruiting for specialist Support Workers for an independent voluntary organisation that acts for the welfare and safeguarding of children and babies. Our client has 4 residential family assessment centres, in South London, with excellent reputations and you will be working with parents to meet their child?s needs. The aim is to provide comprehensive assessment of risk, an assessment of a parent?s ability to parent their child and meet their child?s needs in an environment which can be challenging, is educational and supportive and offering the parents time and space to evaluate their own abilities.Assessments involve a mixture of information education, one to one, video feedback, parenting skills support, sensitive and close observation and direct work, to facilitate and empower ?good parenting?. Parents receive daily feedback based on written recording made by staff on shift. Placements are generally between 6-12 weeks. The information provided by the team enables social workers to make recommendations and the courts to make decisions regarding the future of the children, you may need to give evidence in court.Requirements for the role:? Experience in baby care is essential? NVQ Level 3 is desirable? Strong communication skills both written and verbal as a big part of the role is writing assessment?s and strong literacy skills? Accurate recording and report writing skills? Confident in stepping in and intervening to support the development of the child? Independent living skills? Parenting skills? Desirable to have worked in a residential family unit? Experience with working with people with learning disabilities/history of psychiatric illnesses is desirableDay shifts vary: 8-4/9-5/10-6/11-7, pay rate £9.20Night shifts: 10pm-8am, pay rate £11.20Sleep-ins: pay rate £8.30If you, or anyone you know is suitable for this role and wish to apply, please send me an updated copy of your CV.
