A Vacancy at Northumbria Healthcare - NHCT Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant to join the Obstetrics & Gynaecology service within Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust on a fixed term post (6 months).The dynamic and innovative Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services Directorate manages principal maternity and gynaecological departments at North Tyneside General Hospital, Wansbeck General Hospital and Hexham General Hospital. The Directorate also provides outpatient services at Alnwick, Berwick, Cramlington, Blyth, and Morpeth. The range of operations performed reflects a diverse and interesting case mix from urban, industrial and rural communities.In 2015 Delivery Suite, in patient Obstetric Service and Emergency Gynaecology was relocated to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, sited near Cramlington.The principal maternity departments have benefited from the Trust’s substantial capital investment and enjoy modern accommodation and state-of-the-art equipment. Staff are enthusiastic, friendly and motivated and work effectively as a team. Relationships with surgeons and other clinicians are excellent. The Directorate is on the Newcastle Specialist Registrar rotation and contributes to both undergraduate and post-graduate education.Sub-specialty services include uro-gynaecology, specialist obstetric clinics, Rapid Access Clinic, AUB Clinics, Colposcopy, laparoscopic gynaecological surgery, and is a Cancer Unit.In 2015 the acute obstetric service commenced at the newly opened Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH). This includes the Birthing Centre comprising of a delivery suite (consultant lead and co-located MLU) and post natal ward. A Pregnancy Assessment unit has also been integrated into the service at NSECH. There were 3,300 deliveries at the unit for 2016/17. Emergency Gynaecology is also based within NSECH working closely with the Emergency Department, Surgical Assessment Unit and the Surgical inpatient ward. The Trust is a national leader in the provision of Day Case Surgery for Hysterectomies. The service has also recently been assessed by the Getting It Right First Time team and has received exceptional feedback.
