Job Description

Blackstone Recruitment are looking for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to work in Kent with 5-18 years old who for a variety of reasons have not been able to sustain mainstream education.A summary of the position include the following:

  • Pupils have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and a range of additional learning difficulties including Asperger’s, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ASD, ODD, issues which require CAMHS involvement and Attachment Disorder.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will provide a specialist Speech and Language Therapy service; working collaboratively to promote the wellbeing and best interests of our children and young people and ensure effectiveness of the service in achieving its aims and objectives to provide a high quality service of provision in line with best practice guidance and internal policy and procedure.
  • You will undertake all aspects of Speech and Language Therapy clinical duties adhering to professional and regulatory guidelines and carry out individual assessments and interventions, advise others, prepare relevant documents and to write reports.
  • You will need to provide advice, information and training to staff, other members of the clinical/wellbeing and multi-disciplinary teams, commissioners and other agencies regarding complex communication issues relevant to autism, learning difficulties, attachment behaviours and associated conditions including children, young people and adults who present with behaviour’s that challenge.
  • Collaborative working and integration of Speech and Language therapy support within the day to day running of the provision is a key part of this role.
  • To perform speech and language therapy assessments to support children, young people and/or adults with a range of communication difficulties; identifying intervention needs, make a differential diagnosis and develop and support the delivery of person centred, goal directed intervention programmes through one to one, group and a universal model approach.

  • HCPC registered as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • You should have experience working with children and/or adults with learning disabilities.
  • Paying up to £37,000 per annum.
  • Temp to permanent contract working 12 weeks temporary.
