Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit a Minibus Driver to be part of a small team of experienced drivers for the School. This is a zero hours position with variable hours including, on occasion, weekends.THE ROLEKey responsibilities:

  • To provide a high-quality service as a minibus driver to deliver staff and pupils to and from destinations dictated by School activities both locally within Windsor, Bracknell and Ascot and, on occasion, further afield to London, for example.
  • To ensure you know all the bus routes. Furthermore, you should keep alert to any road works, which could delay or detour the bus and inform your line-manager.
  • To assist in good order and discipline in and around the bus where appropriate. Enforce the law regarding the use of seat belts and report any behavioural problems to your line manager, noting the name of the student/s and a brief note of the incidentand any verbal exchanges.
  • To ensure that the minibus is kept clean and in good condition, including, but not restricted to:
    • visual inspection/checking of tyres, lights, oil, screen wash, water, fuel
    • ensuring that any bus problems, mechanical or structural are communicated immediately to the Facilities and Estates Manager
  • To adhere to all School policies, procedures and handbooks at all times.
  • To abide by the law and ensure the safety of your passengers is paramount.
  • To liaise directly with parents when necessary.
  • To check the first aid box to ensure it is up to date.
  • To ensure that you are appropriately dressed, in uniform if provided.
  • To perform any other related duties that may be required by the School as requested by the Bursar.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONQualifications/Experience:
  • Holder of clean, current driving licence including at least category D1
  • Driving experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of two years driving experience.

TERMS OF SERVICEStart date: Immediate StartNormal Hours of Work: This is a zero hours position with variable hours including, on occasion, weekends.Remuneration: The hourly rate for this position will be £15.05. This includes an element to cover statutory holiday pay.Pension: The School has a contributory pension scheme; if eligible, you will be auto enrolled into the Pensions Trust scheme.Personal Accident Insurance Scheme: The School currently participates in a Personal Accident Insurance Scheme.Provision of meals: One meal, during term time, and refreshments, at all times, are provided free of charge during the school day when on duty.Parking: Free parking is available on site.Welfare: A number of welfare initiatives are available to staff including free use of the Schools swimming pool and gym (at set times), spin bike and yoga classes (at small charge), free 24/7 onsite medical care by qualified nurses, counsellorand art classes.Probationary and Notice Periods: The first six months of employment will be a probationary period. During this period, performance and conduct will be monitored. The School may extend the probationary period at its discretion. In theprobationary period, the notice required to terminate the employment will be one week, increasing to one month by either side on the successful completion of the probationary period.Fee Remission: In accordance with the Schools policy, which may be subject to change from time to time, a fee remission is offered for daughters attending Heathfield School.
