Job Description

A superb opportunity has arisen for a Compliance Officer to co-ordinate, support and advise LBS on all aspects of health & safety & compliance to ensure legislative standards are achieved. This role is varied and will bring you into contact with many facets of the business and external authorities (travel throughout our trading area will be required.About Us:Founded in 1931, LBS Builders Merchants is the largest and leading independent builders’ merchant in South Wales. LBS has 17 merchant branches, 10 Total Plumbing Centres, 11 Kitchen & Bathroom showrooms, a specialist Civils business, a dedicated Roofing merchant, a Home & Garden Centre and Talbot Timber: a timber and roof truss manufacturer and supplier, spanning the whole of South Wales. LBS employs over 390 local, expert staff throughout its branches and has a fleet of over 75 vehicles. The company supplies materials across many sectors including self-builds, large contractors, developers, plumbers, roofers, local authorities, and the general public.The Person:We are looking for a driven and motivated individual that can develop, implement, and deliver on our quality, legal and operational expectations. Ideally you will possess a NEBOSH or similar qualification and can demonstrate experience of administration and compliance standards in several key organisational areas. We are looking for a highly knowledgeable and ambitious individual who will ensure that the company is achieving its goals and standards in the areas of Quality Management, Environmental Management, Health & Safety and industry standards. Candidates will need to be analytical, organised with excellent IT and communication skills.Reporting to the Transport/Health & Safety Manager & Operations Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting health & safety audits & risk assessments
  • Management of the company health & safety system
  • Internal auditing
  • ISO admin & auditing, namely 9001, 15001
  • ESOS reporting
  • Timber accreditation, administration, and compliance - PCFC & FSC
  • Transport & Operators Licence compliance
  • Environmental & waste management
  • Control and manage compliance data and produce required reports
  • Hours of work: An average of 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.00am – 5.00pm.
