Job Description

A unique opportunity to join a well reputed, boutique family law firm as a Legal Secretary / Typist has arisen. This is a full-time permanent position with the option to be based from either the Altrincham or Wilmslow offices.This established and well respected firm, best known for its complex international work and client base of HNWI is seeking a dynamic candidate to provide secretarial and PA support to the solicitors in the team.The ideal candidate should have an accurate minimum typing speed of approximately 60 wpm. The position requires a great deal of typing and therefore this proposed typing speed with a good degree of accuracy is paramount.Key responsibilities and duties include (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Typing both copying typing and digital dictation of letters, file notes, documents, bills, legal forms (Bighand), typing of emails, incoming and sending outgoing emails with and/or without attachments
  • Answering and dealing with incoming telephone calls and directing calls to the relevant person and to take accurate telephone messages.
  • Taking payments over the phone.
  • To be actively involved in maintaining files as per Lexcel requirements.
  • Photocopying, faxing and scanning of documents
  • To assist with file openings of new clients
  • Diary/email management for fee earners (Outlook 2010)
  • Knowledge of case and practice management (Leap)
  • Taking and collection of post and document exchange
  • Managing the incoming and outgoing post.
Person Specification:
  • Demonstrable legal secretarial/PA experience
  • Experience of working in family law desirable
  • Appreciation of confidentiality to clients
  • Good interpersonal skills, professional appearance
  • Written and oral communication skills
