Job Description

Summary This unique role working closely with our commercial partners to lead, develop and deliver our unforgettable Christmas at Dunham Massey event over the next two years. It includes full responsibility for all National Trust aspects of budget management andevent logistics, including planning, operational management and delivery. Since making its debut in 2017, Christmas at Dunham Massey has developed into a must-see, magical after dark experience for tens of thousands of visitors. As Event Manager youll beworking closely with colleagues, production company, promoter and suppliers to ensure the continued successful development and delivery of the event.Contract / Hours:This part time role is for a fixed term ending 2 March 2025. Hours of work are annualised - it is expected that you will work a flexible average of 2 days per week from February to September and 4/5 days per week from October toJanuary. Working days and hours will vary during the pre-event, event and post-event periods.Salary: £30,225 this will be pro rataInterviews: 11th MayIf you have any questions about this role please contact:.uk What its like to work here Dunham Massey is a 3,000-acre estate situated approximately 10 miles south of central Manchester and three miles south of Altrincham. Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford, gave it to the National Trust in 1976 and today it attracts over 500,000 visitors a year.This elegant Georgian mansion, set within a magnificent 300 acre deer park and including one of Britains finest winter gardens, is a very popular visitor attraction with over 100 staff. The busy team has a strong commercial focus and a fast-paced environment.Within the park walls there is also a shop, caf, restaurant and ice cream parlour. On the wider estate, there are 20 farms, 100 cottages, a golf course and an award winning housing development. The house, garden and parkland hide many layers of history andhave many stories to tell. Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing Youll be the lead for operational management of the event at the venue, including throughout the rig, event and de-rig periods. Working with property colleagues, and event partners, you will ensure that Dunhams buildings and landscape receive the appropriateprotection, and maximise opportunities to communicate the core purpose and work of the National Trust to the tens of thousands of visitors. Youll have operational line management responsibility for staff & volunteers on event nights, and local responsibilityfor the consistent delivery of a great visitor experience for our visitors.Youll use your strong people skills to establish good working relationships with property colleagues and event partners, and run the duty management rota for the event, supported by members of the Dunham management and wider property team.Youll work closely with Dunhams Business Services Team, Marcomms Lead and event partners to ensure clear customer information, answer customer queries and assist with the administration of the event in general.A key part of this role is to ensure full compliance with relevant systems and procedures, promoting awareness of health & safety and assessing and managing risk to ensure the safe and cost effective operation of the event at all times, and to deliver aconsistently high standard of presentation and a great Dunham welcome to all of our visitors.Please read role profile attached. Who were looking for This is a significant role at a busy property and we need someone who can take on a challenge, working with our partners to maintain and develop the great reputation of this event. To deliver this role successfully, ideally youll have:Significant operational management experience in a busy customer facing environment and/or at historic properties. Appreciation of balancing visitor experience and revenue generation Extensive experience of assessing & managing risk, knowledge of health& safety and compliance requirements and planning for and managing emergency scenarios Strong people skills enabling establishment of good working relationships with colleagues and partners, including delivery through others and use of collective team experienceAbility to work on own initiative, respond to varying pressures, manage difficult situations Leadership experience including good decision making skills, positive attitude, accountability, organisation skills Good communication skills including public presentation,complaints handling.
