Job Description

A very well established Hampshire firm is looking for a paralegal to work at their Alton office. The successful candidate will be assisting the more senior lawyers with a civil/property litigation caseload. Ideally applicants will have LPC qualificationbut the firm will also consider recent law graduates. Any legal exprerience would be welcome but no experience necessary as full training for the role will be given. Key tasks include Undertake certain elements of fee-earning work under supervision. In particular: file creation; generation of suitable client care correspondence; checking of Anti Money Laundering documentation; checking of documentation provided by the client and discussing with the Supervisor; drafting of court documentation and checking with the Supervisor; preparation of documents for Court. preparation of brief to Counsel with all supporting docuemnts; advising all parties of the hearing and ensuring the parties are aware of their responsibilities. instructing and briefing of approved Counsel; instructing bailiffs;correspondence and telephone conversations with the client as required; discussing procedure, progress and issues with a supervisor as required; aiding other personnel daily in conduct of their affairs if necessary; answering telephone calls for cases conducted by other fee earners, assisting in their absence and updating systems and preparation of documents where necessary; answering the Helpline and providing accurate advice as required; file billing and debt chasing. keeping an up to date case list for absence and case review purposes. attending and fully participating in training sessions. The jobholder is designated as a matter handler for file review purposes and does therefore have their own file caseload which includes the above plus the items shown below but is not limited to the following: Deal wherever possible with routine client enquiries and communications; Preparation of all court documents, answering queries by telephone, letter and e mail; liaison with the client, the lettings agent, other staff and supervisors as required; Entry of the key dates reminder system implemented by SOS; Assisting with the prosecution of more complex cases by providing necessary paralegal support when requested; Contributing articles to the Blog on a regular basis or when requested; Answering questions on the Helpline; Such other tasks as may be delegated to the fee earner. Administering the Helpline. The location is fairly remote with no public transport links so applicants must be based within a reasonable commute and must have their own transport. The role will be full-time, permanent and salary levels will be 19k-21k.
