Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTIONEnvironmental TechnicianLocation - Alton, Hampshire (field based)Salary - Up to £20,000The CompanyEstablished in 2009, Our client are highly skilled, independent, specialist geotechnical engineers, geo-environmental consultants and site investigation contractors with experience and resources necessary to manage geo-environmental projects from conception through to completion and provide geotechnical analysis and design services for all ground engineering problems.The RoleThe role is for an engineering technician, which would involve mostly of site-based work. This could include (after appropriate training) the setting up and overseeing drillers, on-site logging of soil samples , ground-gas and groundwater monitoring, sample collections, site visits for remediation/validation purposes). Head office-based work will mainly include logging of soils samples, upkeeping and organising the sample store, basic maintenance/cleaning of all site tools and kit.Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications: Educated to GSCE level; A-Levels or equivalent would be advantageous but not essential; Previous experience within the construction industry would be advantageous but not essential; Familiar with geotechnical/geo-environmental aspects of site investigation would be advantageous but not essential; Full thorough training providedKey Responsibilities: Carry out site work, e.g. hand trial pitting, soil logging of trial pits and boreholes to , groundwater/ground-gas monitoring, sample collections, appropriate sampling and scheduling of testing of soil/water samples; Assisting the Engineering team on-site and within the office, e.g. soil logging of boreholes , upkeeping and organising the sample store, basic maintenance/cleaning of all site tools and kit, regular checks and upkeep of fleet vehicles, loading/unloading of site vehicles in preparation for their next use and generally assisting the engineering team as required; Phase 3 remediation strategies and validation work, including on-site supervision of remediation and carrying out on-site verification of remediation.Key Requirements:Core Skills: Reliable, committed team player and takes responsibility; Flexible, proactive and self motivated with the ability to be self-directed when needed; A problem-solver;Role Competencies: A strong work ethic is essential; Adaptable and capable of managing own workload; Able to work to timescales; Doesn’t mind working outside in all weathers.Benefits• 23 days holiday plus English bank holidays;• Use of company vehicles to get to sites;• Pension scheme;• Small company with excellent growth prospects;• Casual dress policy;• Paid leave (2 days) on top of your annual entitlement to help in our local community through charity work;• Free parking;• Free fruit for the office;• Company social events throughout the year;• As much tea and coffee as you can drink.
