Job Description

My client, based in Aztec West North Bristol is a very successful and rapidly expanding Engineering and Manufacturing company. They are urgently seeking to recruit an experienced Principle Electronics Engineer for a permanent career opportunity.POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be the focal point for all Electrical aspects of the business. The role will also involve supporting several projects that range from sustaining of the existing tool to new product development.JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:The individual will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Develop new ideas for improving the design, functionality, performance, reliability, and efficiency of the products.
  • Interact with peers in the Engineering team when working on new product development.
  • Research into new devices to enhance the performance and reliability of the product.
  • Testing of designs and products.
  • Ability to fault find from the reading and understanding of tool logs, failure analysis.
  • Perform any other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Engineering Degree or Chartered
  • Ability to research and design new technologies. This will include specifying, testing and evaluating components and designs.
  • Design experience for harsh environments - high temperature, high shock and vibration
  • An understanding of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for schematics and PCB layout
  • Experience in the use of Analogue filters
  • Proficient in using and specifying Sensors (accelerometers, magnetometers, gyros)
  • Proficient in the design and use of Switch-mode power supplies (SMPS)
  • Good working knowledge of small AC generators
  • An excellent understanding of Motors/controllers (esp. brushless DC)
  • An understanding of Control systems and algorithms
  • Ability to test your own work and come up with improvements
  • Excellent fault-finding skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including communication with an international team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCEKnowledge of the following is desired but not a requirement.
  • 15 years experience, in a similar role
  • Microcontrollers
  • Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC)
  • Flash and EEPROM memory
  • Mathematics (real world)
  • Pspice or Simetrix (circuit simulation)
