Job Description

KS2 Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time (8.45am-3.30pm)

A school in Accrington (BB5) is currently recruiting for a full-time Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to start in April. This role has become available due additional support being needed across the Key Stage. The successful candidate will be based withina Year 5 class but will also need to be happy to cover Year 6 classes throughout the week.The SchoolThe school is of average size and is based in Accrington (BB5), it is easily accessible and is a welcoming place that provides a positive and safe learning environment. Pupil behaviour within the school is good and pupils enjoy going to school, pupils aremotivated by the welcoming and friendly atmosphere that the school encourages. The Headteacher encourages the highest standards for pupils and staff and expects both to have a well developed understanding of the school ethos.The RoleThe primary school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work across their Year 5 and 6 classes. The successful candidate must have excellent behaviour management and be able to demonstrate good knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum. The role will involveworking closely and supporting the class teacher within each year group, helping with the delivery of the National Curriculum. Under the direction of the class teacher, you will be required to help the pupils to make progress within Maths, Reading and Writing.You will also be required to cover classes across Year 5 & 6 throughout the week.The Candidate
  • Qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification
  • Previous Teaching Assistant experience (preferably, but not essential)
  • Have experience within a Primary school setting
  • Be able to work with children who may fall below expected attainment levels
  • Be able to provide a welcoming and comfortable learning environment
  • Confident with delivering engaging small group interventions
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
