Job Description

The Role Front-end DeveloperThe purpose of this role is to provide first class project delivery in relation to front-end development projects on our main company website. Working within a small team, making a big impact in a nationally recognised retail brand, this is a great opportunityfor an experienced front-end developer to make their mark, with potential for future career progression. This is a full time role, based in Accrington, Lancashire (although colleagues are working remotely under the current government restrictions).Some remoteworking will be possible when office life resumes.RoleResponsibilities

  • Use XHTML, CSS & JavaScript to create user friendly web pages and web applications.
  • Maintain and improve the front end of the website.
  • Optimise pages & applications for maximum speed.
  • Design web design systems that help develop cross platform experiences.
  • Setup & deployment of A/B & MVT Tests & setup of website tags.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and external partners in extending the platform when required.
  • Write functional requirements and guides.
  • Version control & maintenance of front end code, management of dev environments (Collab with Business Applications).
  • Collaborate on front end deployment pipelines (Collab with Business Applications).
  • Where possible assist in test automation of front end (Collab with Testing).
  • Stay up to date on latest emerging technologies.

The Skills... To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with the following in their skill set:
  • Proven experience as a Front-endDeveloper.
  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 etc.
  • Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms such as LESS or SASS.
  • Proficient understanding of client side scripting & JavaScript frameworks including jQuery & React.
  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • In depth understanding of web development processes. (Design, development & deployment)
  • Assisting in building technical SEO components.
  • Experience with ecommerce and CMS systems.
