Job Description

Job Title - Workshop Manager/ RWCSalary DOE plus Phone, laptop and pension.Location - Abertillery, South WalesJob Description My client is recruiting for a permanent workshop manager / responsible welding co-ordinator. Along with this you will have an opportunity to stamp your mark within your role and take full responsibility for your department, being the department head.Duties will included but are not limited to:

  • Procurement of Materials and Consumables
  • Control of goods inwards
  • Planning of jobs through the workshop
  • Carrying out inspections during and post completion of fabrications
  • Liaising with third party inspection companies.
  • Managing and documenting all elements of the QA
  • Cost control
  • Managing all workshop operatives
  • Overseeing the stores
  • Carry out inspection off premises
  • Develop and maintain appropriate Management Systems and procedures to support the accreditation to BS EN 1090 EXC3
  • Actively engage in the daily operating processes of the organisation to ensure that welding standards are maintained.
  • Develop and maintain effective Welding Procedures and supporting welding procedure qualification records to enable the organisation
  • Develop and maintain Welding related work instructions and/or weld paths/maps as required to support the organisations’ ability
  • Actively engage and support the Requirements and Technical review process from a welding perspective, ensuring that appropriate procedures and controls are in place.
  • Monitor and support the capabilities and qualifications of welders and welding operators to ensure that they can support the organisations’ ability to meet prescribed requirements
  • Monitor and support the capabilities of the welding equipment and consumables to ensure that it is suitable, effectively maintained, and calibrated
  • Actively engage and support the Production Planning process from a welding perspective, ensuring that appropriate consideration is giving to welding requirements to support the organisations’ ability to meet prescribed requirements
  • Monitor and support the capabilities of the Welding Inspection processes and equipment with appropriate training, documentation, procedures and calibration controls
  • To actively engage in the resolution and response to welding related Non-conformances and corrective actions to ensure appropriate controls are established to prevent reoccurrence
  • To ensure that effective traceability records are maintained within the management system to support the organisations’ ability to meet prescribed requirements
  • To support the development and maintenance of appropriate quality records
  • Qualifications
  • CSWIP / PCN Welding Inspector
  • Clean UK Driving license
  • Experience
  • 3-5 Year experience as a welding inspector working in a similar role
  • Producing and implementing welding procedures
  • Personal Qualities/Attributes
  • Good Communicator
  • Quality focused, looks for every imperfection and makes sure the quality is always 100%
  • Experienced working in the fabrication of bridges, plate work and profiling
