They pride themselves on developing innovative solutions for companies and governments to reduce greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions and the usage of antibiotics in the agricultural sector.Responsibilities:- Contribute as a Senior Scientist to the development of innovative solutions by undertaking research and development projects with a specific focus on molecular biology.- Lead assigned R&D projects independently in all phases of the research process, from generating new ideas up to presenting results.- Write technical reports and specifications, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as necessary.- Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques, improve protocols, processes, and equipment.- Train and develop technicians and research scientists.- Provide technical and scientific guidance for project/product and development as a subject matter expert.- Communicate progress, deviations, and interim results to the project team.Essential Requirements:- PhD in Molecular Biology or related field.- Experience in molecular biology.- Critical thinking and problem-solving.- Highly motivated with intellectual curiosity and rigour.- Able to work as part of a team.- Ability to plan own work, manage multiple tasks and deliver against deadlines.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.- Ability to find, assimilate and evaluate the relevant literature and be able to integrate this into experimental design.- Able to write scientific articles at a quality/level suitable for publication in peer reviewed journals.Desirable Requirements:Experience in one or more of the following:- Drug screen development and small molecule screening- Microbiology- Anaerobic Microbiology- Molecular Phytology of algae or cyanobacteriaExperience managing and training junior staff and technicians.Experience of project management methods and tools.The role is required to be based at their R&D and manufacturing facility in Abertillery, UK.
