Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Winder/Fitter to join us at Sulzer, a global leader in electrical equipment and rotating machinery services. Our Aberdeen Ellon facility is renowned globally for its expertise in servicing high-voltage generators, motors,wind turbines, and more. Along with a competitive salary, you will also receive a company-wide bonus based on financial performance, frequent overtime opportunities (paid at time and a half), 33 days holiday, and a 9% combined pension.Your primary responsibility will be to carry out rewinding and repairs to AC and DC motors, pumps, and associated equipment. This role also includes basic mechanical fitting work.Key Responsibilities as Winder/Fitter at Sulzer:

  • Dismantling, rewinding, reassembling, and testing conventional single-phase and three-phase, small AC/DC motors, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Operating specialised repair and testing equipment, ensuring precision in every aspect of the process.
  • Completing required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Executing all work efficiently, professionally, and in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring all work meets appropriate standards and quality control criteria set out by the company.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety responsibilities, following all appropriate procedures, and using the appropriate protective equipment.
  • Keeping workspaces, tooling, and equipment clean and tidy in accordance with company initiatives such as LEAN and health and safety requirements.
At Sulzer, we’re looking for a Winder/Fitter with:
  • A recognised Electrical engineering or electrical machine repair and rewinds apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Previous demonstrable experience of dismantling, rewinding, assembling, and testing AC/DC motors.
  • Experience with all types of mechanical (electrical – motor components) rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
  • Full and valid driving license is preferred.
