Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is working in partnership witha pharmaceutical company focused on developing therapeutics from the human gut microbiome.Our client is looking for aSenior Research Scientist - Microbiology.The RoleThe successful candidate will provide scientific expertise to the proprietary MicroRx platform, for the early discovery of new LBPs in novel therapeutic areas. This role will involve developing and implementing novel strategies for the isolation of bacterialstrains from healthy human donor samples.The successful candidate will manage the 4D Pharma Faecal Bank, including the active recruitment of new donors and management of sample collection, processing, and storage. The post-holder will have the opportunity to engage in the wider research activitiesof the 4D Pharma Research team, write up results in the form of reports and publications, present research outcomes at meetings, and generate intellectual property.Experience and Skills

  • A PhD with relevant post-doctoral or industry experience (>3 years) in microbiology or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in culturomics and anaerobic microbiological techniques.
  • Experience in the targeted and untargeted isolation of bacterial strains from biological samples.
  • Experience in the identification and taxonomic classification of bacterial strains.
  • Knowledge of the phylogenomic composition of the human gut microbiome.
  • Knowledge of current gut microbiome research activities would be advantageous.
  • Highly motivated and innovative with the ability to work independently and integrate into a multidisciplinary team of microbiologists and molecular biologists.
Key Responsibilities
  • Development and implementation of strategies for the isolation of bacterial strains from healthy human donor samples.
  • Management of the 4D Pharma Faecal Bank including the recruitment of new donors.
  • Provide scientific expertise in bacterial taxonomic classification and phylogenetic analyses.
  • Work as part of the 4D Pharma Research Team to plan research activities within the framework of the agreed programmes.
