Job Description

Risk Assessor - Competitive salary - ScotlandThe RoleSPIE UK, a smart engineering and technology-driven solutions provider for the built environment, are looking for a Risk Assessor to conduct risk assessments in accordance with the requirements of ACOP L8 (Legionnaires disease: the control of legionella bacteria in water systems).Covering the whole of Scotland, the successful candidate will also upgrade the training of all water teams.The key responsibilities of a Risk Assessor include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that the risk assessments are carried out in accordance with the requirements of ACOP L8, HSG 274 and BS8580 Risk assessment of buildings, in compliance with legionella regulation.
  • To mentor legionella technicians and give technical support when required.
  • Undertake training that may be required to fulfil duties.
    • The PersonThe key skills and qualities of a Risk Assessor:
  • Working understanding of L8 ACOP, HSG 274 part 2, 3 and Fluid Categories
  • Experience in a similar role with a background in Water Management/Legionella
  • Sound understanding of Health and Safety Legislation
  • Knowledge of both imperial and metric fittings
  • Must be capable of working in confined spaces/at height
  • Ability to interface with people, including clients, at all levels
  • Ability to be a self-starter within a team environment
  • Previous experience and qualification in legionella
  • Be able to communicate with technicians
  • Working across contracts and working away from home if required
  • Be a qualified Legionella Risk assessor with several years’ experience in a similar role.
