Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is a global pharmaceutical company focused on developing therapeutics from the human gut microbiome. Live biotherapeutic products (LBPs) derived from the gut microbiome represent a new class of drugs that contain live organisms for the prevention,treatment, or cure of disease. We area world leader in the LBP field and currently has a number of clinical stage programmes (in IBS, IBD, oncology, and asthma) and a strong pipeline of additional pre-clinical programmes in autoimmunity, inflammation, andCNS diseases.To continue the success and expansion of this established business, a vacancy has arisen for a Research Technician to join our team.The RoleThe successful candidate will support the activities of the Microbiology Team in Aberdeen. This will primarily involve the culturing of bacterial cells for screening assays and performing phenotypic assays to identify and characteristic bacterial strains.The post-holder will also be responsible for preparing reagents, maintaining laboratory stock levels, and performing data entry and processing. The ability to record data with a high level of accuracy will be essential to this role. Training for specificassays and techniques will be provided.Experience and Skills

  • BSc degree or Higher National Certificate (HND) in microbiology, biochemistry, biology or biomedical sciences
  • Competency in a variety of microbiological laboratory techniques.
  • Experience in bacterial culturing techniques is essential to this role and a knowledge of handling requirements for strict anaerobes would be highly valuable.
  • Strong aseptic technical skills.
  • Basic experience in molecular biology techniques would be advantageous.
  • Ability to follow SOPs and awareness of GLP practices.
  • Excellent organisational skills and accurate record keeping, attention to detail.

  • Perform microbiological laboratory techniques and protocols.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of data.
  • Attend and contribute to research group meetings.
