Job Description

JOB PROFILE- Principal Resident EngineerDURATION: 4 Month Contract MONDAY - SATURDAY - 30 HOURS per week.Can be broken down to fit schedule Job PurposeTo undertake and manage contract supervision of roads projects site works, ensuring works are delivered on time, are value for money and to the specified quality. To ensure that works carried out by the Authoritys contractors comply with drawings & specificationsand workmanship is of an adequate standard.The Principal Resident Engineer will be expected to demonstrate skills and experience in:

  • Management of works contracts;
  • Assessment and management of contractual claims;
  • Undertaking effective contractual negotiations with confidence;
  • Management of contractual risk;
  • Management of quality processes;
  • Management of/ working collaboratively with Statutory Undertakers to deliver necessary works (diversion/ protection) NRSWA;
  • Management of/ working collaboratively with Network Rail BAPA;
  • Good people management skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary/ organisational team environment ;
  • Deliver projects and evaluate design solutions;
  • Use oral and written methods effectively for the communication of technical and other information to professionals, elected members and the public;
  • Think independently and use innovation to solve problems;
  • Select techniques, procedures and methods to undertake engineering tasks;
  • Design and develop engineering solutions;
  • Identifying, organising and using resources effectively to complete tasks;
  • Developing project programmes and effectively manage tasks & resources to deliver outcomes on time;
  • Manage and apply safe systems of work;
  • Working on own initiative and as part of a team;
  • Using computer systems and programmes.
