ABERDEEN GENETICS LABORATORYBAND 5 HEALTHCARE SCIENTIST PRACTITIONER (Genetic Technologists) Temporary Post (6 months)Applications are invited for a temporary Band 5 Healthcare Scientist Practitioner (Genetic Technologist) post in the Aberdeen Genetics and Molecular Pathology Laboratory. The laboratory is part of the Scottish Genetics and Molecular Pathology Consortia, funded by the National Services Division to provide Genetic and Molecular Pathology diagnostic testing in Scotland.The laboratory is currently operating as a partner node, to provide extra SARS-Cov-2 testing capacity. These posts are specifically to support this service.The post holder will be required to work on a shift pattern including weekend working.Experience and qualificationsApplicants should have an Honours Degree in a Biological Science discipline, and experience in relevant laboratory techniques such as nucleic acid extractions, PCR, RT-PCR. Experience in the use of automated liquid handling platforms will be advantageous.Excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, team working and an ability to follow standard operating procedures are requirements of these posts.There will be considerable inter/intra departmental interaction with other staff groups including administrative, technical and scientific staff.Informal email enquiries can be made to Christine Bell () or Louise Rennie ()
