Job Description

CONSULTANT UROLOGICAL SURGEONSCore Urology with an Interest to complement the serviceAn opportunity has arisen within NHS Grampian for a full time Consultant Urological Surgeon to join ten Consultants in the progressive Urology Department at the major University teaching hospital of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). ARI provides regional major Pelvic Cancer, Robotic and Stone services to the north of Scotland as well as core Urology to the population of NHS Grampian.Applicants should have wide knowledge of and experience in core Urology preferably with specialist interest to complement the department. The applicant is expected to provide the clinics and day case surgery in a satellite site either Elgin or Stracathro.The core Urology service is supported by our nurse specialist and physician associate team.As such we require candidates to be forward thinking and collaborative in their approach to the role and the development of the service across Grampian. In addition to fixed duties, the post offers excellent opportunities for both teaching and research.The Urology department in Aberdeen in collaboration with University of Aberdeen has led several multicentre randomised control studies in management of stone disease.The post holder would be expected to participate in a 1 in 10 on call rotaFull registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. For more information visitThose trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.
