An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy and friendly AAA Screening Programme team.The Scottish AAA screening programme aims to reduce deaths associated with the risk of aneurysm rupture in men aged 65 and over by identifying aneurysms early so that they can be monitored or treated. The screening test is a simple ultrasound scan of the abdomen which takes around 10 minutesThe successful applicant will work as an ultrasound operative carrying out daily ultrasound scans on participants appropriate to the service. Our screeners are required to visit multi-sites across Grampian including Orkney and Shetland; therefore the successful candidate must be able to accommodate all travel requirements (this includes being away overnight), be flexible to cover clinics at short notice and hold a full manual driving licence.Candidates must be educated to Higher National Certificate in a relevant subject or be able to demonstrate a proven track record in a healthcare discipline, have excellent communication skills and be proficient in IT.Please note: This is a training post. The successful applicant will be employed on a temporary 11 month contract, in accordance with Annex 21 of the agenda for change hand book. During this time the successful candidate will be enrolled to the Glasgow Caledonian UniversityAbdominal Aortic Aneurysm Ultrasound Screening Course.
