Job Description

Our client has an opportunity for a Machinist to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Machining position performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the department assigned and insures timelyand accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.Responsibilities:

  • Performing mechanical testing functions relating to the specialist operations of the laboratory in accordance with recognised standards or internal specifications.
  • Conducting mechanical testing at clients facilities when required.
  • Performing routine preventative maintenance on laboratory testing equipment.
  • Ensuring that measuring devices are accurate and within calibration when being used.
  • Ensuring that test results are recorded accurately and correctly in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • Monitoring the availability of laboratory test consumables.
  • Assisting the booking in of jobs.
  • Contributing to the improvement in the organization and efficiency of the laboratory by implementing agreed improvement actions.
  • Carrying out other duties as reasonably requested by the Senior Testing Technician.
  • Ensuring that the highest standards of cleanliness and housekeeping are maintained.
  • Undertake and complete satisfactorily any training as required.
  • Working overtime as reasonably required.
Qualifications:
  • Preferably apprentice trained or equivalent engineering experience.
  • Demonstrable competency in the safe operation of mechanical testing equipment including impact testing, tensile testing, load testing and hardness testing.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of standards applicable to the testing of metallic materials and weldments.
