Job Description

We have a current opportunity for a Estimator on a permanent basis. The position is hybrid with their office based in Aberdeenshire. They are a traditional building contractor with expertise in all forms of construction from steel frame, timber kit and traditional builds. Your company has a open approach and are committed to delivering a reliable, sustainable and value for moneyservice for their clients and their teams.Your new roleAs an Estimator you will have excellent communications skills and great attention to detail. You will be able to negotiate with a range of professionals both internally and externally and be able to make accurate time and cost estimates. You will be requiredto resolve and deal with any situation that may arise, and you should have good problem-solving skills. In your new job role, you will be responsible for calculating construction cost estimates and will be involved in the planning, development, negotiation,and the execution of contracts.This is a role that is flexible which means your job is hybrid and you can work from home with you going to the office based in Aberdeen when agreed.Main Duties include:

  • Production of Tenders
  • Secure and maintain a profitable workload.
  • Production of Tender Sum Analysis & Tender Sign off Sheet.
  • Prepare prelims for each contract for discussion with Directors/Preconstruction Manager
  • Risk Management and Commercial Opportunities - identify projects risks and opportunities through tender/subcontractor documentation in addition to site visits.
  • Prepare sub-contractors/ supplier enquires/ analysis sheets
  • Analyse & Select sub-contractor/supplier quotes for input into tender
  • "Take off" quantities for tenders based on drawings and specification.
  • Deal with and close out in timely manner tender clarifications, queries and required
  • Prepare handover agenda documents for internal handover meetings when tender has been accepted
  • Admin - Maintain Estimating files electronically to a high standard
  • Ongoing development and maintenance of Estimating System (Valesco)
  • Development of junior staff as required
  • Reports when requested
  • Work with technical and commercial staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the companys tendering strategy to differentiate our offer.
  • Understand the companys goal and purpose so to continue to enhance the companys performance
Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelors degree in civil or architectural engineering, construction management, or an equivalent degree.
  • Extensive experience as an estimator in the construction field.
  • Exceptional time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Brilliant management and negotiation skills.
