Job Description

Reed Talent Solutions are currently working with a major Scottish NHS organisation to recruit a Director of Psychology on a Permanent basis. The post-holder will have responsibility for overall professional and clinical leadership, robustclinical governance and professional assurance of psychology services within the NHS organisationRole Information

  • Remote based, with occasional mandatory visits to the Aberdeen area

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a culture of trust, respect, openness, collaboration, encouragement and integrity, to inspire cohesion, motivation and high performance among senior psychology staff, and improve the impact of psychology in our organisation, partner agencies andcommunity.
  • Lead, co-ordinate and have oversight of research and development activities for the psychology profession
  • Have responsibility for the development and maintenance of robust clinical governance systems that ensure the best possible standards of clinical, professional and psychological practice for the population
  • Report to the appropriate Clinical Director on the senior leadership Team and act as a key point of reference on all matters relating to applied psychology, including national and local policy developments
  • Lead on the governance and development of applied psychology research, teaching, supervision and lecturing
  • Make a significant contribution to strategic planning and the professional development of psychology nationally through membership of national representative groups (e.g. Heads of Psychology Services in Scotland etc.)
  • Have responsibility for delivering a highly specialist clinical service to a defined group of patients that will require carrying a specialist caseload of clients, providing advice and consultancy to patients, carers and other professionals
  • Scottish Executive Health Department bodies (e.g.) NHS Education Scotland, appropriate Scottish Government Divisions
  • Provides professional leadership to all psychology staff. Supports and provides professional management to all psychology Professional Leads
  • Develops and manages clinical governance arrangements for all applied psychology staff
  • Ensures the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice of the Health and CareProfessions Council and British Psychological Society
  • Interprets national policies and advises the Board, Directorate management and partner agencies on the long term organisation and delivery of applied psychology services across all specialities
Essential Criteria
  • Doctorate level (or equivalent) qualification in Clinical or Applied Psychology
  • HCPC registration
  • Considerable experience as a Senior Consultant Psychologist
