Job Description

FINTEC recruit is pleased to present this opportunity for Contract Mechanical Design Engineer for our client, a fast growing engineering manufacturing business in the energy sector. This is a contracting role based home based with occasionalvisits to the office in Scotland, rate negotiable depending on experience. You will be part of a multifunctional engineering project team.Responsibilities of the Contract Mechanical Design Engineer include:

  • Interpreting customer specifications to produce practical design solutions to meet design or maintenance requirements.
  • Ensuring designs are correctly transformed into engineering drawings, Bills of Materials, test procedures, ensures manufacturability of design incorporating engineering change control.
  • Using computer aided design/modelling software to create drawings.
  • Presenting project reviews, writing reports, and providing specifications and drawings.
  • Undertaking design verification including risk & failure analysis, fault tree analysis, design reviews & calculations to establish a full design verification package (DVP).
Essential skills and experience required for the Contract Mechanical Design Engineer:
  • Honours degree in a relevant subject (Masters preferred).
  • Experience of Thermal, Shock and Vibration Design and Simulation using SolidWorks.
  • Proven ability to work in small multi-functional project team.
  • Demonstrable professional experience of the full lifecycle of mechanical product development.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modelling.
