Job Description

Were now recruiting for roles which will help our clients to deliver vital services and to resume business wherever possible.As a MCA Comms Support Engineer you will be part of a dedicated team help us to support and maintain operational service for our DSX/Vision suite of products across the Maritime & Coastguard Agency sites in UK.This is an excellent opportunity if you are looking for the next step in your career, what better than supporting mission critical integrated bespoke software and solutions into blue light emergency services market.Location - The role is primarily a technical service desk role based in Aberdeen however, you will be expected on occasion to work from other MCA locations.Security Clearance requirement - Must be eligible to gain SC Level / NPPV Full UK Driving License What youll be doing:

  • Triage - resolution of incident, configuration and support of Capitas DSX & Vision product suite of solution/s at both hardware and software levels on both server and client platforms.
  • Fault finding Capitas DSX & Vision product suite of solution/s at both hardware and software levels.
  • When required, create, review and update Capita Engineering documentation, for example workplans, work instructions and technical guides
  • The role holder will be required to work professionally in liaison with several 3rd party providers and internal teams to coordinate various activities and gather / provide information required to complete the tasks at hand.
  • The role will involve extensive customer contact on both a technical and non-technical level requiring a professional and adaptable approach to communication and interaction / service.
  • The role will require working both in a team and, potentially autonomously where projects dictate a limited engineering requirement. An increasing level of autonomy is typically achieved after some time in post and suitable experience has been gained.
  • Complete all activities within set deadlines and report appropriately any difficulties to achieve SLA/delivery milestones.
  • What were looking for:
  • Educated to HND/HNC level or relevant industry experience with a professional service desk experience at either a 1st or 2nd line level.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Proven experience administering and working with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server up to 2016
  • Working knowledge of MySQL/MSSQL
  • Experience of communication systems including Radio and Telephony systems
  • Practical experience in TCP/IP network support including routers, switches and firewalls
  • Proven knowledge and experience of virtualisation environments (Hyper-V or VMware)
  • MS Business Applications experience including Excel, Visio, Word
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
  • Desirable Skills :
  • Basic understanding of VOIP / SIP
  • Good Presentation skills
  • VPN/RDP experience
  • Knowledge of Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS Manager)
  • Experience of ITIL system lifecycle workflow
  • Clustering experience / Knowledge
  • Lan/Wan experience / Knowledge
  • Telephony experience (Cisco UCCE/Avaya Blue/Avaya Red/DSx/Mitel/Shortel/Asterix) / Knowledge
