Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapy Lead Grade: Band 8AHours of work: Ideally this is a full time position, although part-time hours may be considered.Following the retiral of the current post holder, an experienced speech and language therapist is required for a key operational management and professional leadership role within the acute adult speech and language therapy service. The post holder will work alongside other Allied Health Professional (AHP) disciplines, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and dietetics, to provide a cohesive and co-ordinated acute adult therapy service; he / she will be accountable to the lead allied health professional within the acute sector. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with a wide range of other professionals from health and other agencies. There is excellent team working with other speech and language therapy services across NHS Grampian.The Speech and Language Therapy team comprises of approx. 12WTE staff based in the Speech and Language Therapy Department in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and provides both inpatient and outpatient services. The staff are a highly experienced, innovative, flexible and supportive team, managing dysphagia and the range of communication difficulties to the diverse range of conditions within the specialties, including Acute Stroke, Neurosciences, Head and Neck/ENT, major trauma and Acute and Critical Care.Applicants must be a qualified, HCPC registered speech and language therapist, with significant professional experience, as well as having a management qualification or equivalent experience. He / she should be able to demonstrate effective leadership eg of teams and projects, have experience of service development and improvement, as well as excellent communication skills.
